The most common sizes of gold pans are the 8 to 12 inch pan, used primarily for sampling, or clean up. The 14 inch pan is a good multi use pan and seems to be the most popular size. You might find more experienced panners using the 16 to 18 inch pan when they are trying to work more volume.
